Defrost Modes Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Soft cloths or towels
  • Plastic scraper (provided with refrigerator)
  • Large bowl or pan for water collection
  • Cooler for temporary food storage
  • Baking soda for odor absorption

Step-by-Step Manual Defrost Process

  1. Prepare for Defrosting: Remove all food items and store in a cooler with ice packs to maintain temperature.
  2. Turn Off Refrigerator: Unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet or turn off at the circuit breaker.
  3. Remove Shelves and Drawers: Take out all removable shelves, drawers, and compartments for easier access.
  4. Place Water Collection: Put towels and a large bowl/pan at the bottom to collect melting ice water.
  5. Accelerate Defrosting: Place bowls of hot water inside the freezer compartment to speed up the melting process.
  6. Remove Ice Buildup: Use the plastic scraper to gently remove ice buildup. Never use sharp objects.
  7. Clean Interior: Wipe down all surfaces with a solution of warm water and baking soda.
  8. Restart Refrigerator: Replace all components, plug in the refrigerator, and wait 2-3 hours before returning food.
Warning: Never use sharp objects to remove ice as this can damage the cooling coils. Always unplug the refrigerator before defrosting.
